From the bustling capital city of Tunis to the ancient ruins of Carthage, and explore the rich history and traditions of this unique country. You will visit the grand mosque in Kairouan, known as the holiest city in Tunisia, and the oasis town of Tozeur, where you can take a camel ride through the desert. But our tour isn't just about the sights. We will also experience the vibrant culture of Tunisia through its cuisine, and art. You will have the opportunity to try traditional dishes at locals home and participate in cultural activities such as pottery and mosaic making. You will eat at a troglodyte home, explore berber communities, and spend a night under a tent in the desert under the beautiful star

ITINERARY 

Day1: Tunis - Hammamet

 

  • Pick up from your location and  visit of the medina of Tunis

  • Visit Carthage archaeological site with its ancient baths, amphitheatre

  • Followed by the visit of Sidi Bou Said Village .

  • Dinner & Overnight Hammamet

Day 2: Hammamet - Kairouan - Tozeur

​

  • After breakfast, departure to Kairouan the Fourth holiest city of Islam

  • Visit of the best examples of Islamic architecture, the great mosque ,

  • Visit the Mausoleum of the Barber and the Aghlabid Basins.

  • Lunch break

  • Drive to Tozeur 

  • Arrival and Visit the Medina of Tozeur and the open air museum Eden Palm where you have the opportunity to learn about the production of dates

  • Meet the artisans and sample some of the local date delicacie.

  • Dinner & overnight Tozeur

Day3 : Tozeur - Chebika - Tamerza - Ong Jemal Mos Espa Village - Douz

  • After Breakfast, drive by 4*4 to oasis mountain Chebika & Tamerza and Ong Jemal where took place the making of Star wars movie.

  • Drive back to Tozeur for Lunch break.

  • Drive to Douz Through the Chott El Jerid salt desert the largest salt flats in the Sahara (photo stop included)

  • Arrival to Douz and Camel ride (optional)

  • Dinner & overnight under tent in the desert of Douz

Day 4: Douz - Matmata- Douiret Berber village

  • After Breakfast , Departure to Tamezret and Visit of the Berber Village known by its Old dwellings, hidden caves and abandoned oil mills.

  • Continuation to Matmata, the site of several scenes from the "Star Wars" movie and the fascinating underground dwellings of the Berber Troglodytes.

  • Arrival and visit of a typical local home and a Berber family.

  • Lunch Time at Restaurant in Matmata

  • Drive Towards Tataouine

  • Arrival and Visit of Douiret Berber Village

  • Dinner & overnight Gite Douiret

 

Day 5​: Chenini - Djerba Island

​

  • After Breakfast , Departure to Chenini a Berber troglodyte village It is overlooked by a ksar citadel perched on a hill at about 500 meters above sea level. It is a place of storage of food reserves and valuable goods which also served as a refuge in case of attack

  • Arrival and Visit of the village especially the mosque of the 7 sleepers where you can see 7 tombs whose length exceeds 4 meters, according to the legend, to seven Berber men who were catched by the Romans at the time. Captured, they were immured in underground tombs where they fell into a deep sleep for a duration of more than four centuries

  • Lunch break and drive to Djerba

  • Diner & overnight Djerba

Day 6​ : Djerba Island

​

  • After Breakfast , start a classic Sightseeing of the Island to Visit Houmet Souk and Guellela that's known by its potters

  • Lunch break

  • Visit of El ghriba synagogue situated in the Jewish village of Hara Seghira . it's the oldest in Africa, and besides being the center of the island's Jewish life is also a site of pilgrimage .

  • Dinner & overnight Djerba

Day 7 : Djerba Island - El Jem - Tunis

​

  • After Breakfast drive to El Jem

  • Arrival and visit of the Roman Amphitheatre ,one of the most impressive Roman remains in Africa built around 238 AD

  • Lunch break

  • Drive back to your location
